About this Database

This module provides two linked resources for characterising the hazard potential of micro- and nano-plastics (MNPs) in the context of human health risk assessment:

  • Particle Characterisation Database — A structured inventory of individual MNP particle types, recording their physicochemical properties (polymer, size, morphology, surface chemistry), lifecycle (origin, weathering state), and associated chemical additives / adsorbed contaminants.
  • Exposure Matrix Database — A collection of reference environmental mixtures (e.g. housedust, food, water) that define the relative abundance of particle types in real-world exposure scenarios. Each matrix entry includes fractional abundances, size bins, and particle size distributions to support realistic dose metrics.
